Many restaurants have birthday clubs or email clubs that give you a free meal or item for your birthday. So you may happen to be traveling in your birthday month and that works fine. The other way is when you sign up for these; you can put in your birthday as a date during your big trip. Feel free to sign up the kids too as many will let you do that too. This works great especially if its a chain you might only visit on this vacation.
This comes in handy for big trips where you might be gone for a week or two and the dining bills can add up quickly. This can be for road trips, trips to amusement parks, you name it and you may be able to lower your bill. Some restaurants and chains have some great deals. Some may be a free diner, some a dessert, and some an appetizer.
Landry's restaurants (Rain forest Cafe, McCormick's, Bubba Gumps, etc) has a pretty good program. You pay $25 to join, but immediately get a free $25 credit to use. Then you get a free $25 during your birthday month. After that you get $25 for every $250 that you spend. They have a ton of restaurants. CLICK HERE to see their website.
The next way is to use discount sites. The first one is The Entertainment card/book. Just check and see if they offer a book in the area you are going to. I will say the Entertainment site isn't what it used to be and can take some effort to research a book and see what discounts there are, but this could save you a lot and one meal will pay for the book usually. Later in the year you can usually score books for between $5-$15. CLICK HERE
Restaurant.com is another one that is popular. You can score $25 gift certificates for as low as $2-$4 if you're lucky. They require minimum spending but they do offer larger amounts. We had a group of 6 once and had a $75 certificate. With 6 people at the right place we spent the $150 with appetizers and dinners. Each restaurant has different rules and usually doesn't allow alcohol to be included in the spending requirement. CLICK HERE
And yes, there are even more options!
Don't forget about Groupon or Living Social. Sometime people forget to check here. They offer many food deals for local cities all over the US.
Before a trip I usually sign up to see other cities deals or just go to the cities page and look. But getting daily notifications will make sure you don't miss out!
