We are going to use this and finally see EMP and all it has to offer. They also have a LEGO display now which will be perfect for the little one. Check out the EMP site here And thanks to the blog where I found this great deal (Thrifty NW mom) ![]() Coast hotels is starting to advertise their holiday shopping deals. We used one of these for The Benson in Portland last year and this year they have The Roosevelt in Seattle on the list as well. Both of these really break down to great deals for the room when you back out everything you're getting. The gift cards can be used as gifts, for shopping, or hang onto them for later. I have broke down an example of what the prices come down too with each city. Seattle-Roosevelt Hotel This deal includes your room, a $40 dining voucher(usually choice of 3 restaurants), a $50 gift card for Pacific place (the mall next door), $50 gift card to city centre (another mall), and valet parking ($29 plus tax). So keep in mind on the breakdowns you are getting about $170.00 in extras here, all very useable. Weekend rate comes to $255 with tax (room is $219 plus tax) (I used Nov 1) A regular booking would be $169 plus tax or $197 and include nothing. If you parked you are now at about $226. That means you are only saving about $30 off the deal that will give you $140 in extras(I subtracted the parking)! Its a no brainer, book the shopping package! Weeknight rate- The rates I looked up break down to the same. A little searching may save you even more. If you plan on shopping, parking, and eating, you would spend the $170 anyway most likely so really you are getting a room for about $80. ![]() We stayed at the Benson last year using the shopping deal. Here is the breakdown for this year You get your room, a $50 gift card, valet parking($31), and a certificate for $25 for the lobby restaurant or can be used for room service. These are all useable extras valued at $106. The deal also includes 10% off at Macys, a shopping tote, and a voucher for a photo at santaland. If you uses these this could save you more but due to the nature of them not really useable. I know we didnt use them when we went and the added value could add on $10 or $15 I am guessing? Weekend rates- I used December 6 as an example. Rate comes in at $239 plus tax or $273. A regular room booking through website runs $189 plus tax or $216. If you park you are now up to about $250. for $23 more dollars you score about $75 in useable extras(I backed out the parking). weekday rates- coming in at the same, although I think the room booking seperate may go a little lower. I think this deal was priced better last year, but still a great deal. Don't forget it's tax free shopping too. If you plan on shopping anyway, its worth thinking about. Don't forget I have reviews of both these hotels on my hotel review page!
