If you have certain Chase cards, you have access to the Luxury Hotel and Resort Collection. These are hotels you can only book with your Chase card but gain valuable perks for being a cardholder.
The site has a few issues in searching but some great perks. You will have to enter the first 5 numbers of your chase card in order to search and book. Each hotel has certain extra perks but the basics are this. You will get early check in, late check out, plus breakfast for two, and an upgrade if available.
I was able to land The Signature at MGM for $99 plus tax and resort fees. (although the site doesn’t specify any of that it’s a safe assumption). I paid $111 total with tax.
The perks I landed were:
- Early Check in (12 Pm)
- Late Check out (2pm)
- $100 resort credit
- Free Breakfast (up to $20 per person, up to 2 guests)
- An upgrade (based on availability)
That $99 room got me not just any Vegas room, but a 550 square foot room. If I get an upgrade that could be an even larger room. The Signature really are like condos so the extra space is nice.
Now, on to how I am basically figuring that my room is free.
The $100 resort credit alone is above my base price of the hotel. A resort credit means I can eat, drink, and shop anywhere in the MGM or MGM signature and it will be taken off my bill. I will simply charge it to my room. In Vegas, these are things you will do anyway and with the limited number of hours I am there it will be easy and convenient to eat right on site. I can grab lunch and drinks of course before heading out, and perhaps lunch again the next day, plus grab some shopping items. I will also get the breakfast so most of my meals are basically free.
The upgrade is just an extra that may or may not happen. The check in and check out times are big in my opinion, especially in Vegas. I am flying in early and flying out late the next day to maximize my short stay (34 hours on the ground). Sometimes I would say it’s worth it to book an extra night for a cheap hotel just to be able to rest or shower before if flying out late. In this case I am saved the hassle of debating that.
So free room or basically free meals for my stay? Either way you look at it, its a win for me!
I will be sure to follow up after my stay.
