Technically this post could go into a couple idea and thoughts. First off, I will say that renting a timeshare can provide great value if you enjoy a condo style stay, have a family, or just like a discounted weekly stay.
I recommend redweek.com for booking or renting yours.
However, I am going to focus on the presentations. As a disclaimer I happen to own a timeshare and I never recommend it unless you truly know what you're getting into. I bought mine for about $10 plus closing costs or $500 total. I then pay the yearly fee of about $650 which gets me a week in a 2-bedroom unit. Having a larger unit really has been my savoir. It makes it so easy to rent out. Some people love them, some don’t.
I need to get rid of mine just because I don’t want to hassle with it, but that’s another story.
These companies will give you discounted vacations if you attend their presentations. If you are really good at saying no or just don’t have the money anyway, then go for it. I get discounted offers all the time and I will post one for you. If you ever need a code just let me know.
Here are my tips:
- There are several items in the fine print so read closely.
- I find for some, they want you to me married or a couple.
- Don’t do the random solicitor ones. Use a friend referral or if you have to book a stay then attend one for some discounts or perks while in town.
- Know going in, you have to be able to say NO
The picture used is an example of what mine typically offers. They have serval locations throughout the US such as Las Vegas, Orlando, Virginia, and South Carolina. Just let me know if you are ever looking for a referral.
Keep in mind in the fine print you have to attend the presentation so I suggest trying to do it quickly and then go on with enjoying your vacation.
