In the past, my belief has been that I always enjoyed the service that the valets provide. I like being able to drop off quickly and not have to worry about luggage, especially when traveling in group or with kids.
And for the sake of the article, I am using Sea-Tac which is my local airport here, but as you will see, I provided some great tips that helps analyzes your airport parking fees.
So on my first two trips I parked for 24 hours or less and used two of the main valet Wally Park and Master Park. I already have begun to research other lots as well and have some valuable information.
The number one reason the airport is so expensive is? You guessed it, TAXES AND FEES!
On average, you will pay at least $5.87 in taxes, even if the daily rate was 5.95, the taxes and fees would double that!
Well, you have a City of Sea-Tac tax on these lots which is $3.00 and you have a airport fee of 2.30 and then you have the state tax which is 9.5%
I never paid much attention previously, but now that I am using it more, I need to find the lot that is most efficient, convenient, and provides the best service. Notice I didn't say cheapest? I am still a little stubborn in with If I go with the cheapest lot, I might not get to the airport as quickly whereas, I have never had an issue with the above named lots.
So here is a break down of the main two lots I just used and below are other lots where I have already calculated the fees. I will use a differently lot probably each time until I am convinced I have enough information for you!
Keep in mind that most lots have multiple options. So a valet lot or garage may have other uncovered lots that are less or they might have a self park option.
I also have an excel sheet that I am more than happy to share. I will try and post it as a picture since I don't think the program will let me attach it.
